jumped dramatically. that is a problem unique to california. let's take a look specifically at san jose. according to aa fuel gauge report -- aaa fuel gauge report a week ago it was $4.16. yesterday was $4.38. and today the average is $4.54. in a week gas prices have jumped $0.38. this all stems from supply problems. the chevron refinery fire in richmond is producing at a reduced capacity a chevron pipeline that moves crude oil from northern california was recently shut down. >> over the last week or so there has been a couple other problems. i think the most serious one was the one at the exxon mobile refinery that seemed to be sort of the straw that broke the camels back. and that is when prices jump took off. >> reporter: analysts say california's gas is at the lowest level in ten years. what doesn't help is the states strict pollution. while prices here in the bay area are high it's even higher in los angeles with some stations have actually passed the $5 mark. a few of the station owners have actually shut down the pumps rather than charging the higher price to break even. reportin

there is no fog. in southern california a man recovering in the hospital after falling off a water slide. this happened yesterday afternoon at six flags in santa clarita. officials say the 19-year-old cut in line, went last lifeguards then jumped into head-first instead of feet-first. halfway down he fell off the 75 feet tall slide. park officials say he was not cleared to go down the slide and did not receive instructions first. >>> new this morning, new york lawmakers have launched an investigation into locating sets of master keys to the city that ended up for bid on ebay put up for sale by a new jersey lock the city nor 150 they grant access to subway gates and firehouses men to be used by new york city firefighters to get by locked passages when responding to emergencies. authorities are concerned the master keys may be used by terror groups. it is not clear how the locksmith got the original set. >>> arnold schwarzenegger's book goes on sale this morning he's talking how he ruined his marriage. during his inch view he opened up about the affair with the family housekeeper and the s

of a rare shark attack off the coast of california and this one was deadly. officials say the victim was a surfer and that his friend witnessed the whole thing. it happened at a beach off vandenburg air force base about 160 miles north of lang. the last known deadly shark attack in the united states was two years ago around the very same spot. and in that case the animal literally took a bite out of the victim's boogie board. adam housley live in our west coast news hub. what else do we know about this latest attack, adam. >> yes, shepard. almost two years ago to the day in this same spot we have been told there have been a number of warnings but the out in the area over the last few months. there have been shark sightings as far as south as santa barbara an hour drive south of where this attack took place. we're told it happened at surf beach off the coast of california. a 38-year-old man was surfing with his buddy. his buddy saw him get attacked by a shark and pulled under. he swam to him, took him ashore. performed cpr. by the time the authorities got there he basically pled to de

, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> a california highway patrol officer reportedly shot and killed a suspect up in lake county this arn. according to lake county news, a female chp officer pulled over a suspect in a stolen vehicle on highway 29. the two reportedly got into a physical fight ending with the officer shooting the unidentified suspect. >>> a worker at the port of oakland was killed today after being crushed to death while inspecting a crane. it happened about 9:30 this morning at berth 37. that's operated by evergreen marine. cal osha official tells ktvu the worker was in his mid 50s and suffered a crushed chest and head injury. the worker died at the hospital. he has not been identified. berth 37 is one of 7 terminals at the port. it was shut down for the day. the rest of the port stayed open. cal osha and oakland police are investigating. >>> the san mateo sheriff is asking for help in identifying a girl whose body washed ashore. they say they can't figure out who she is or how she died. a couple walking on the beach discovered the body sunday afternoon. the county coroner says th
